I have been teaching at the Patchworks for 15 years.
I specialize in machine Appliqué, Patchwork, Quilting and free machine embroidery but my passion is Wearable Art.
I won my first award in Hobart in 1994, first place in the inaugural Melbourne Art to Wear, and participating annually in Art to Wear, Sydney, Perth and Fashion Fantasia with selected garments exhibited in London and Dubai, and in Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine, Machine Embroidery and Textile Art, Textile Fibre Forum and Quilting Arts Magazine USA.
My mother taught me to sew on her old treadle machine. She made theatrical costumes for my Aunt who was an operatic singer and for my dance school concerts. Later I took classes in tailoring and pattern making at night school and made most of my own business clothes. I developed an interest in creative textiles, particularly free machine embroidery, when I moved with my family to Hobart. |
